Planned Parenthood’s “I Had An Abortion” Shirt Draws Criticism from Affiliates, Post-Abortion Groups
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is defending its new t-shirt reading, “I Had an Abortion,” despite criticism not only from post-abortion groups but also some of PPFA’s local affiliates.
PPFA says the shirts offer “a powerful message in support of women’s rights.” But some Planned Parenthood affiliates have said that the shirts are offensive to people and that PPFA should be focusing on “preventing unwanted pregnancy.” PPFA president Gloria Feldt has defended the shirts as necessary, saying that “anti-choice extremists” are trying to “cast this option in shame.”
Abortion Clinic Objects to Day Care Center Next Door; Day Care to Build Wall Around Its Property
An abortion clinic in Perth, Australia, has dropped its objections to a day care center opening next door after the center’s owners agreed to build a wall around their property.
Marie Stopes International Australia, which operates the abortion clinic, filed a complaint about the day care center with the city of Swan, saying that women coming to the clinic for abortions might be upset by the sight and sound of children playing. Marie Stopes withdrew their objections after the developers of the day care center agreed to build a brick wall around their property.
Research and anecdotal evidence has suggested that many have abortions because of lack of meaningful support, pressure, disinformation, coercion and even force from others. In a study of women in a post-abortion support group, more than 80 percent said they would have carried to term if they had been given support by those around them.
