Laws in Britain and New Zealand allow abortion only when the risks of pregnancy outweigh the risks of childbirth. This study in New Zealand is one of many showing that the risks of abortion are greater than the risks of childbirth. The finding demonstrates that most abortions in these countries do not comply with the law.
