1. Join the Church Awareness Project. Fill out the form at right so that you can get information, free educational materials, and updates on the Church Awareness Project. After you sign up, we will send you an electronic copy of the Church Leader’s Kit, which includes a letter for your pastor or other church leaders, a copy of The Jericho Plan, and other educational materials.
2. Share the Church Leader’s Kit with others, especially your pastor or other church leaders. Having the support of church leaders is crucial to transforming our churches into places of advocacy, support and healing. Read the materials yourself and share them with others in your church — your pastor and faith leaders, pro-life volunteers, ministry leaders and anyone else who might be concerned about this issue. Work together to find ways to put these ideas into practice in your church.
There are a couple of ways to share the kit with your faith leaders and others. You can email the entire kit to them, or you can share only the Church Leader’s letter with them by mail, email or in person. Customize the letter or include your own message encouraging them to join the Church Awareness Project.
3. Be a part of Coerced Abortion Awareness Week/Project Candlelight during April. This is a special event to help churches and faith communities raise awareness that most abortions are unwanted or coerced; to highlight the exploitation, pain, trauma and abuse that surround abortion; and offer real help and support to women, men and families who facing an unplanned or difficult pregnant or struggling after abortion. Find free resources and ideas to help you participate here.
4. Tell other people about the Church Awareness Project. Pass on the Church Leader’s Kit (or a link to this blog) to others you know. Post information about the Church Awareness Project on your web site, blog, Twitter feed, Facebook profile and other social networking sites. The more people who learn about this project, the more we will be able to transform our churches and communities!
5. Make a donation to support this work. In addition to the Church Awareness Project materials, the Elliot Institute offers many other free resources through our web sites and other educational efforts. We also conduct original research on the psychological impact of abortion on women and are the world’s leading source for information on these issues. We need your help to continue this work. We need your help to transform our churches!
The proof that this work will change the abortion debate, and save both lives and souls, comes through stories like these:
- “I can only say thank you. You are my best friends; you have saved my life. You have helped my three children to gradually get their mum back. I felt completely lost and I didn’t want to live anymore.
- “You are just great. You gave me the information I needed. … Thank you for making me feel that my tears and my desperation are just the consequences of this experience and the only thing I wanted was to keep my precious baby.”
- “I just want to say I am so thankful for your web site. I have a friend who was considering abortion so I sent her to your web site. She called me around two in the morning, crying. Anyway, it changed her mind. I’ll be praying for your ministry. Thanks so much!”
