October Outreach – Thoughts & Prayers 3

Third in a Series. Project Goals:

  1. Ask your pastor to preach about coerced abortion and post-abortion issues from a compassionate, Pro-Woman/Pro-Life perspective!
  2. Join the project and use the resources to encourage and help pastors and other church leaders to speak about these issues.
  3. Pray! Invite other church leaders and individuals to join this outreach.

During October, many pro-life individuals and organizations are participating in prayer, fasting, vigils, events and other community outreach efforts. This type of prayerful and practical outreach matters for babies, women and families, for a multitude of reasons.

The following and upcoming excerpts of Forced Abortion in America and Pro-Woman/Pro-Life prayers are reminders of what is at stake and why it matters.

This is the third in a series of excerpts from:

  1. Forced Abortion in America (downloadable versions include the flyer, fact sheet and 22-page report with citations),
  2. Pro-Woman/Pro-Life Prayers page (also available as a downloadable pdf),

The “Forced Abortion in America” excerpts are disturbing, yet important to read. They expose profound exploitation and human rights abuses associated with abortion, especially for women and families in vulnerable situations. (See “help” links below.)

For individuals and groups planning ahead for next year, reading excerpts of this report followed by prayers makes a good Lenten offering, prayer group project, personal devotion, etc.

EXCERPT FROM PRAYERS PAGE

Pray …

  • for all mothers, fathers and families facing an unplanned or difficult pregnancy, especially those who are facing abortion and those who are being pushed, pressured, coerced or forced into abortion
  • for mothers, fathers and families who were involved in an unwanted or coerced abortion
  • for those who are grieving or traumatized by abortion, especially those struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts or other problems, and for families that have been emotionally and spiritually wounded by abortion
  • that all of us will accept the challenge to create a more authentically pro-life, pro-woman and pro-family culture and offer practical and compassionate support for mothers, fathers, children and all those at risk of abortion, especially those facing unwanted or coerced abortion

(Download a list of places to find help before or after abortion. Those being coerced can also contact thejusticesfoundation.org/cafa for immediate help.)

Prayer is powerful. Education is, too, because the truth will ultimately prevail.

We’d like to hear your thoughts. Have you shared these materials with your pastor and asked him to speak about these issues?  What response did you receive? What is planned for the future?
