Last week we sent you an invitation to sign up for the Church Awareness Project. We also told you to mark your calendars for Coerced Abortion Awareness Week.
Last year nearly 500 people signed up for the Church Awareness Project. They received a wealth of materials to help their churches and faith communities speak on abortion in a compassionate and truthful way; open people’s eyes to the truth about abortion (such as that most abortions are unwanted or coerced, not a free choice); and minister to women, men and families touched by these issues.
This month we are inviting you to be part of this movement by getting materials into the hands of your pastor or minister.
You can share these materials with other leaders in your church or faith community, too: deacons, pastoral assistants, elders, board members, and ministry leaders — especially those in pro-life, women’s, family life and youth ministries.
But we especially want you to send them to your pastor, priest or other ministers who preach in your church.
Why? Because they are the ones who set the tone for how your church or faith community addresses pregnancy- and abortion-related issues — and can reach those who may never hear this message anywhere else.
What they say can invite or drive away those sitting in the pews — especially women, men and families who might at that very moment be experiencing an untimely pregnancy; being encouraged, pressured or coerced to abort (even though many women and girls want to continue the pregnancy); or struggling with unresolved pain and trauma from a past abortion.
Unfortunately, many people have told us that they seldom or never hear a message about abortion from the pulpit. This is why it is so important to give these materials to those who are preaching and teaching in our churches.
The Church Leader’s Kit — part of the materials from our Church Awareness Project — includes an an electronic copy of The Jericho Plan: Breaking Down the Walls Which Prevent Post-Abortion Healing by Elliot Institute Director David C. Reardon, and other educational materials to share with your pastor and other church leaders.
The Jericho Plan and the other resources can help end the silence and transform our churches into places where real help and hope are available in the midst of this assault on unborn children and their mothers, fathers and families.
So here’s what you need to do:
1. If you haven’t already done so, sign up for the Church Awareness Project email list. You will receive an email with a link where you can download our Church Leader’s Kit, including an electronic copy of The Jericho Plan (no e-reader needed). Save a copy for yourself, and send another to your pastor and other church leaders. There is also an introductory letter that you can personalize.
2. If you have already joined the Church Awareness Project, visit here to download a copy of the Church Leaders Kit (click on the “Download the Kit” button at the bottom of the page) to send to your pastor and other church leaders.
3. Or, simply send a text, email or Facebook message to your pastor with a link to our sign up page, and invite him or her to join the Church Awareness Project and get all these materials.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Coerced Abortion Awareness Week. (we’ll send materials out for that very soon)!
